Types of Hyperhidrosis (aka Hyperhydrosis)
There are many different types of excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. They are split up into two categories, primary hyperhidrosis and secondary hyperhidrosis.
In primary hyperhidrosis the cause of excessive sweating is unknown. It usually starts during childhood and symptoms worsen with the years and can reach its peak during puberty.
Also known as idiopathic hyperhidrosis, this type of excessive sweating is usually noticeable in certain areas of the body such as sweaty hands, sweaty armpits, sweaty feet, armpits and facial excessive facial sweating as well.
Since the cause of primary hyperhidrosis is unknown, those who suffer this symptom may have difficulties in their social life because of the embarrassing nature of the problem.
Secondary hyperhidrosis causes sweating in various parts of the body with no specific location. However, unlike primary hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating in secondary hyperhidrosis is due a condition that triggers the excessive sweating in the body. These conditions can include menopause, obesity, endocrine disorders or even psychological disorders.
